Follow Your Dreams

Any dream, irrespective of how impractical it might seem, can be converted into a goal. Any goal can be attained. A dream becomes a goal when you put a time limit for its attainment, and you determine to get it very certainly.

“Follow your dreams”. I’m certain we all have heard the line so many times in the lives of ours. But the point here is, “Is it actually easy to follow your dreams”?  How many persons do we know who have done the same in their lives?

Let us start from the beginning, and by that, I mean school time. This is the time when we run into a word called dream for the first time. Around this age, we always have a tendency to have much more than one due to the vibrant nature of ours. Such is actually the beauty of this age of innocence, we come to be obsessed with every idea we run into. When we develop just a little bit old, it is the time we start understanding our dislikes and likes and that leads to the primary goal of ours. But the process of choosing one is not a simple job. Most people are actually under the impression that choosing is one’s own decision. But is it really? Does not it depend much more on the surroundings of ours, family liking, and social pressure? It is true that nobody is actually born knowing their goals. It is the folks around us who we meet on a regular basis who play a crucial role in the process of choosing a goal.

Dreams aren’t formed in a single day. It takes years for a person to realize what she or he was born to do. The majority of the times our parents are just involved in the selection process. Ever since a child is born, parents will ensure he or she is forced to dwell towards their dream naturally. And then starts the manipulative process of placing the same ideas in the kid’s mind so that subconsciously a child will want to become what parents wanted him to be. And in case it’s not the family, then society is going to play the obvious role. Someone will always be there to distract him from his personal vision. Supposedly let us say, a person follows the choice of his parents and become successful in it. But is actually that what he needed to become in the first place? What about his personal vision?

One of my childhood friends always wanted to be a journalist ever since he was old enough to think about his future but he chose the medical profession instead to make his parents happy. Today he is a doctor and doing really great but for some reason, he’s not pleased with himself. When asked he said and I quote, “I still regret not going after what I wanted, given a chance I wouldn’t go against the wishes of mine again. We just get one life and it’s absolutely fair in case we start to be little selfish in achieving what we desire rather than making others happy around us.”

It is not we do not wish to make our family happy; it is just that family must also learn to be pleased with the personal choices of ours. The majority of the times we think to go along with their choices hoping we are going to find happiness in the end. But what if we do not find it ultimately?

We must never sacrifice the interests of ours for anybody’s sake. Instead, we should be able to afford to be bit selfish when it comes to our choice of career. I’m sure all of the factors/people involved in it, can easily understand it later or sooner.

Heading back to the primary question to discover exactly how tough it’s to chase the dreams. Let us assume that a person has understood his vision. The obvious next step should be to understand the system which is going to lead him to it. But is it that easy.

No, it’s not this easy since there are a lot of other things also attached to one’s dream. It might be his capabilities to reach towards it, less cash to invest on it etc. but as long as your will is actually strong enough nothing is able to stop you from reaching the skies.

I see a lot of men and women on a regular basis who are unhappy with their career and jobs since it is actually not the thing which they needed to do. It doesn’t make them feel fulfilled and happy.

So why do it? It is never too late to follow the dreams of yours. If something does not make you satisfied, quit it immediately and chase the things which will put a smile on your face. If the situation does not permit you to do so, then give yourself a time to control it so you are able to do it later eventually. I’m sure the street is actually full of bumps. But, is it not worth trying for?

Don’t let anyone cut the wings of yours and this includes the situation/circumstance too. Always remember one thing that we had been placed on this earth to fly high!

We get one life only, why waste it doing something which the heart does not want.
